current responsibilities

Once I transitioned into my current, full-time position from an intern/student worker position, I was given other responsibilities and opportunities to expand my skills and knowledge of this industry. I am working on expanding our social media accounts by posting regularly and updating our community partners and University System on our current projects.

I have also been tasked to work on other writing projects including our Annual Report and a story on how we've adapted to new requirements for virtual engagement with our community partners since the COVID-19 pandemic.

All of the documents and designs listed here were created in collaboration with other staff and interns, unless otherwise stated.

In May of 2019, I was hired as an intern for Texas Target Communities (TxTC), a service-learning and engaged research program that partners with low-capacity communities across Texas to help them address issues related to land use planning, development management, and unique challenges faced by small communities today. While my internship was meant to be a short-term experience, I have been blessed to be able to continue my work at TxTC and am now employed full-time as a Program Aide.

This collection of work is to show the range of projects I worked on during my time at TxTC, some of which were accomplished as part of a collaboration between TxTC staff, interns, and TAMU students and others were accomplished independently.

Many of our plans require a great deal of research and writing, so in the nearly two years working for TxTC, I've learned a lot about Urban Planning, community engagement, and what is required for Cities and Counties to grow and develop.

Design Work

Since working at TxTC, I have had many opportunities to expand my skills and experiment with graphic design, using Canva, Photoshop, and InDesign. The following are some of my projects that were used to communicate externally, to future community partners, and internally, to TAMU students, faculty, and staff.

comprehensive plans

My role in the Comprehensive Planning process usually begins with editing the work written by our students and identifying any gaps within the plan. While writing these plans, we research case studies, cross reference other City or County plans, and provide recommendations for growth and development. During the spring and summer of 2020, I had more opportunities to design a number of reports for TxTC, including the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 Annual Reports.
